IWPG Global Region 2 Signs MOU with 7 NGOs in Yemen for the Implementation of Peace Initiatives

 


Establishing Solidarity and Partnerships for Practical Peace Activities



From December last year to January this year, the Global Region 2 of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) (Regional Director SeoYeon Lee) joined hands with seven organizations in Yemen to realize peace initiatives.


The organizations that signed an MOU with Global Region 2 include: Generation Without Qat (President: Laila Ali Naji Al-Faki), Association for the Care and Protection of the Rights of Working Children (President: Fatima Mohammed Yaslam Omar), Democratic Women's Foundation (President: Johara Hamoud Thabet), Alima Human Rights Research Center (President: Mohammed Qassem Nouman), Peace and Development for Initiative Positive (President: Ahmed Mohammed Khaled Rania), Abductees' Mothers Association (President: Amat Alsalam Alhajj), Peace Paths Foundation (President: Obaid Saeed Waked). 


These organizations agreed to collaborate on IWPG peace events, women's peace education, advocacy for the legislation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), and IWPG membership participation while discussing concrete and practical plans for peace activities.


Laila Ali Naji Al-Faki, President of Generation Without Qat, stated, “Together with IWPG, we will not only protect women from sexual violence but also support women affected by conflicts and provide psychological and social support to survivors of violence. If we collaborate, we will be able to conduct more active research and reporting on women and peace.”


Fatima Mohammed Yaslam Omar, President of the Association for the Care and Protection of the Rights of Working Children, said, “We plan to conduct joint projects with IWPG to help women who have experienced violence feel peace and stability, and we will encourage many Yemeni women to participate in peace activities.”


Johara Hamoud Thabet, President of the Democratic Women's Foundation, stated, “Through peace education, we will enhance the rights of women and girls and promote IWPG’s international peace activities.”


Mohammed Qassem Nouman, President of the Alima Human Rights Research Center, expressed, “We will actively participate in continuous peace activities and peace education for Yemeni communities and schools.”


Ahmed Mohammed Khaled Rania, President of Peace and Development for Initiative Positive, said, “We will share project management, strategies, and evaluations through IWPG’s specialized programs.”


Amat Alsalam Alhajj, President of the Abductees' Mothers Association, stated, “By collaborating with IWPG, we aim to strengthen support systems for the families of abductees and improve awareness of the plight of abductees and hostages through international platforms.”


Obaid Saeed Waked, President of the Peace Paths Foundation, emphasized, “We will empower women for peace and security.”


SeoYeon Lee, Regional Director of IWPG Global Region 2, remarked, “Transcending time and space, I hope that we will become one under the theme of peace and take the lead in realizing peace through continuous cooperation.”


Meanwhile, IWPG is a globally recognized women's NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the United Nations Department of Global Communications (DGC). IWPG operates 114 branches in 123 countries and has over 800 partner organizations in 68 countries. With the vision of “Realizing Sustainable World Peace,” the organization actively promotes global solidarity, the spread of a culture of peace, women’s peace education, and advocacy for the legislation of the DPCW.
