The Global Region 2 of the International Women's Peace Group (IWPG, Regional Director Seo-yeon Lee) commenced the first session of Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE: Peace Lecturer Training Education) for Colombian Women on February 6th.

On this day, the training was conducted online with 11 participants, including Claudia Aragon (government official), Shirley Rodírguez (lawyer), and Edith Castaño (a human rights activist). The session was facilitated with simultaneous interpretation between Korean and Spanish.

PLTE aims to instill the importance of peace particularly during a time of global conflict leading to refugee crises unify women worldwide in the pursuit of peace and cultivate specialized instructors in promoting peace.

The inaugural PLTE session in Colombia commenced with introductions of IWPG staff and the topic "My Values and the Beginning of Peace," emphasizing the preciousness of life and self-awareness.

All Colombian participants expressed their interest in women's rights and peace engaging in discussions about the four seasons of life, fostering empathy and communication among themselves.

Claudia remarked, "IWPG's Peace Lecturer Training Education is very important for us, and every woman should listen and learn. Particularly, seeing the birth of life and nature through the videos made us feel a lot."

Shirley commented, "It seems like an opportunity for us to learn good ways to achieve peace. Starting from myself, I believe we can move the peace into action and help solve problems around us, even to our families and communities."

Edith Castaño shared, "Through the class, I learned how to achieve peace and appreciated the time to reflect on my life. Though we are in different places, I hope we can work together for peace."

The eligibility for PLTE application is open to adult women who become IWPG members and aspire to promote peace culture, with the current tuition being free. The education spans a total of 10 sessions, and those who successfully complete the course will receive certification as peace lecturers, allowing them to engage in peace-related activities.

Meanwhile, IWPG holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is registered with the Department of Global Communications (DGC) as an international women's peace organization. The vision of IWPG is to protect precious lives from war and pass down peace to future generations with a mother's heart. To achieve this, IWPG is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, coordinating vibrant peace activities worldwide through over 110 branches and collaborating with more than 550 partner organizations.
