The International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (led by Regional Director SeoYeon Lee) held an exchange meeting on the 15th with the Belmont Business Enterprise Centre Inc. (Belmont BEC) in Australia to discuss the NGO event at the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

The CSW is a functional commission under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that meets annually in March, bringing together governments, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from around the world to share policy examples for women’s empowerment and rights promotion and to explore effective implementation measures for gender equality policies.

Belmont BEC is a nonprofit (NFP) community-based organization established in 1994

that supports the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises

(SMEs). It is a global organization that has supported the creative industries, fashion, and TCFL (textile, clothing, footwear, and leather) sectors through various projects

over the years.

Carol Hanlon, CEO of Belmont BEC, said, “I am delighted to hold the UN CSW NGO

event with IWPG under the theme of ‘Economic Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs: Gender Equality and Sustainable Development Goals.’ It is truly important for women to unite for peace.”

SeoYeon Lee, Regional Director, emphasized, “This will serve as solidarity among civil organizations to explore ways to move forward together toward a peaceful global village.”

Meanwhile, IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). It operates 114 branches in 123 countries and has over 808 partner organizations in 68 countries. With the vision of “achieving sustainable world peace,” it is actively promoting the spread of solidarity needed in the world, fostering a culture of peace, providing women’s peace education, and advocating for the legalization of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
