The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Regional Director Seo Yeon Lee) announced that it will hold the "International Women’s Peace Conference" in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Valledupar, Colombia, from October 26 to 30. This gathering will focus on finding practical solutions for peacebuilding through a forum involving leaders and peace activists from various countries, as well as promoting the value of women’s peace education.

The meeting that formalized this agreement was attended by IWPG Regional Director Seo Yeon Lee, Valledupar Mayor Ernesto Miguel Orozco Durán, Minister of Economic Development, Environment, and Tourism Maria Marta Lacouture, Office Representative Oscar Cantillo, and other key officials.

Ernesto Miguel Orozco Durán, Mayor of Valledupar, stated, “Our city is fully open to collaborating with IWPG for women and world peace,” expressing strong commitment to the partnership.

IWPG Regional Director Seo Yeon Lee reaffirmed their joint efforts toward peace, saying, “IWPG will actively collaborate to expand peace education and empower women throughout Valledupar and Colombia.”

IWPG plans to host a five-day forum from October 26 to 30, inviting key international speakers and national leaders selected by the Valledupar Mayor’s Office. Additionally, the event will feature both online and offline women’s peace education programs, providing participants with practical peacebuilding solutions.

IWPG Global Region 2 expects Valledupar to establish itself as a hub for women’s peace education, leading the way in building a women’s peace network. The conference is set to welcome major national figures, six governors from various Colombian regions, mayors' wives from across the country, and approximately 200 women from neighboring areas.

The Valledupar Mayor’s Office will oversee the logistics necessary for the successful execution of the event and will work in cooperation with the Valledupar Chamber of Commerce to prepare for the conference. Office Representative Oscar Cantillo stated, “This conference will be one of the most significant events held in Colombia.”

Meanwhile, IWPG aims to use this event as a stepping stone to accelerate the establishment of a global women’s peace network. In collaboration with the Valledupar Mayor’s Office, IWPG will also create and distribute invitations to prominent figures worldwide.
