IWPG Global Region 2 Meeting with the Ministry for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups in Tanzania for Peace Project Collaboration

- Establishing a platform to expand women-led peacebuilding activities

- Emphasizing the necessity of women’s peace education through the UN CSW

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Regional Director: Seo-Yeon Lee) participated in the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held at the UN Headquarters in New York and held a strategic discussion on March 14 at the East Lounge with John A.K. Jingu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups in Tanzania, to discuss women-led peacebuilding and the realization of sustainable peace.

He showed interest in IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention, women’s economic independence, conflict prevention and peacekeeping, and the 2025 International Women’s Peace Conference to be held in Korea in September. He positively evaluated the possibility of collaboration.

Dr. John A.K. Jingu stated, “Women are no longer victims of conflict, but key actors in creating peace. We will build a practical cooperative relationship with IWPG to implement sustainable peace.”

IWPG Secretary-General NaHyung Jeon emphasized, “Women in Tanzania must actively participate in policy-making and legislative processes. Through the expansion of IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education and peace capacity-building programs for women leaders, we must enable women to play a central role in peace.”

IWPG is committed not only to meeting world leaders and women activists but also to working with them to establish sustainable peace led by women.

Meanwhile, IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). It has 115 branches in 122 countries and 808 partner organizations in 68 countries. With the vision of “Realizing Sustainable World Peace,” IWPG actively promotes expanding global solidarity, spreading a culture of peace through activities such as the International Loving Peace Art Competition, Women’s Peace Education, and supporting and urging for the legislation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
